Event: A Taste of Literature with Sharon Ledwith

CoverLostandFoundsmallLocal author Sharon Ledwith will be the featured author for the upcoming Taste of Literature series. The event will take place at The Twisted Apron (1833 Wyandotte St E) and will feature a dinner inspired by Ledwith’s latest book, Lost and Found. The event takes place on January 15th at 6:30pm, and tickets are $50 (plus HST) per guest. After the meal, Ledwith will be doing a reading with an author discussion to follow. The dinner is a fundraiser for the Windsor International Writers Conference.

Ledwith is a self-proclaimed late bloomer when it comes to writing. She started out penning paranormal romances in her mid-thirties, until she had a dream about mysterious arches that inspired her time travel series for young readers.

“I really thought about that dream a lot to the point where an idea for a book began to grow, and take root,” said Ledwith. “So, I thought I’d challenge myself and write a novel—a series—that would appeal to my son, who at the time was the target age of my audience.”

Since then Ledwith has had three books published in The Last Timekeepers series tltkataoa-200by Windsor’s own Mirror World Publishing. Her latest book is part of a brand new teen psychic mystery series titled Mysterious Tales of Fairy Falls. The first book, Lost and Found, follows Meghan Walsh, a teen with the ability to communicate with animals, who finds herself wrapped up in an adventure to help save an animal shelter.

“The second book in my teen psychic mystery series, Mysterious Tales from Fairy Falls, will be released sometime this year,” said Ledwith. “It’s entitled, Blackflies and Blueberries, and is about seventeen-year-old Hart Stewart who possesses psychometry—the psychic ability that discovers facts about an event or person by touching inanimate objects associated with them.”

Ledwith plans to continue her writing career, with a total of ten books outlined for The Last Timekeepers and five books planned for the Mysterious Tales from Fairy Falls.

TkDScover200“When writing two series at once, my plan is to release one book and write one book during the course of a year,” said Ledwith. “I alternate writing the books for each series, which helps me produce fresh content every year and building both book series backlists at the same time.”

Ledwith believes being a writer in Windsor definitely has its perks.

“Windsor hosts a few writing groups to help writers improve their work for publication,” said Ledwith. “Add in the fact that there’s the Windsor International Writers Conference this July 6th to 8th, and you’ve got a place that gives a writer plenty of chances to grow and learn. Windsor also boasts about seven publishing companies and over a thousand published/self-published authors. Not too shabby statistics for a city that’s known more for their manufacturing acumen.”

Ledwith’s advice for new writers includes investing in yourself and to never stop learning.

“As you grow, so will your readers, so be prepared for this,” said Ledwith. “Never give up. That’s a given and should be part of any author’s credo.”

Other events lined up for 2018 include a special book promotion with all of Ledwith’s ebooks being offered for $0.99 for the entire month of February, Goodreads Giveaways, and upcoming book signings.legendofthetimekeepers-200
